News portals reveal report saying Saiful not sodomised

PETALING JAYA: A medical report purportedly stating there was no medical indication of Mohd Saiful

Bukhari Azlan having been sodomised has surfaced on online news portals.

The medical report from Hospital Pusrawi, signed by Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid at 2.14pm on June 28, ruled out that Mohd Saiful was sodomised.

It said there was “zero active bleeding”, “zero ulcer or pus” and “zero tear and scar” in Mohd Saiful's anus.

In the report, Dr Mohamed Osman had also recommended that Mohd Saiful go to a government hospital for further check-up.

How the medical report was leaked – which is a breach of patient confidentiality – is unknown.

Health Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said the Malaysian Medical Council must look into the case.

“I have instructed the director-general to look into the case to ensure that professionalism is maintained,” he said.

A top Health Ministry official said the leaked report was probably not a full report because it appeared to be documenting only the superficial.

A spokesman from the hospital said a statement would be issued soon.

Raja Petra Kamaruddin, editor of news portal Malaysia Today which carried the report, said the medical report proved that Mohd Saiful was not sodomised by Anwar.

“The police also have a copy of this report that I have published, so they know what I know,” he wrote.

Raja Petra also alleged that Dr Mohamed Osman had gone into hiding because the police wanted him to change his medical report to implicate Anwar.

PKR secretary-general Salehuddin Hashim said there needed to be complete public disclosure on the case.

“The medical report appears to confirm what we have always believed: that the allegations against Anwar are without merit and are politically motivated,” he said.

DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang said: “This is a very disturbing turn of developments and will subject Malaysia to a new spate of international bashing unless the police can come forward to throw light on the first medical report and the whereabouts of Dr Mohamed Osman.”

Nafi tahan doktor Pusrawi

KUALA LUMPUR 28 Julai - Polis menyelar tindakan segelintir pihak yang sengaja mengganggu siasatan berhubung kes liwat Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim dengan mendakwa kononnya doktor yang memeriksa Mohd. Saiful Bukhari Azlan ditahan.

Doctor on the run: police want him to fabricate evidence against Anwar

Raja Petra Kamarudin

On 21 July 2008, I published an article in this same column called HOW, YET AGAIN, THEY ARE TRYING TO

FABRICATE EVIDENCE AGAINST ANWAR. Read the article here ).

In that article I mentioned as follows:

You see, they asked a certain doctor from a certain hospital to conduct an examination on Saiful. The doctor did so and he came out with a report that said there is no evidence Anwar had ever penetrated or sodomised the young man. The police then picked up the doctor and detained him for three days. As much as they tried to force him to change his report to implicate Anwar he refused to do so.

Until today, the doctor stands by his report that there is no evidence Anwar had sodomised Saiful. He knows he is going to be made to pay for this but he doesn’t care. He is not going to change his report and say that Anwar sodomised Saiful whatever they do to him. Exasperated, the police had to release Anwar on personal bond or police bail. The doctor refuses to doctor his report and neither does Anwar want to volunteer his new specimen.

Well, that doctor’s name is Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid from the Hospital Pusrawi and he has now taken his entire family and has gone into hiding because the police are looking for him and they want him to change his medical report.

At 2.00pm on 28 June 2008, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Bin Azlan went to see Dr Mohamed Osman to complain about a pain he is suffering in his anus. Saiful told the doctor that he had been assaulted by ‘a very important person’ -- meaning, of course, sodomised by Anwar Ibrahim.

Dr Mohamed Osman examined Saiful but found no evidence that he had been sodomised, either by Anwar Ibrahim or anyone else for that matter. The doctor’s report (which can be viewed below) says that there is zero (0) skin tearing, zero (0) active bleeding, zero (0) traces of pus, etc., which basically means he can’t be suffering from a pain in the anus as what he alleges.

The doctor’s diagnosis is that he rules out or TRO (to rule out) assault (sodomised). In short: Mohd Saiful Bukhari Bin Azlan is not suffering any pain in the anus and neither was he assaulted or sodomised in the anus.

Saiful then said he would like to make a police report so Dr Mohamed Osman suggested he go for a second medical examination at a government hospital. Saiful did so and the doctor at the government hospital also came out with the same diagnosis. Nevertheless, Saiful still made his police report at the pondok police in the hospital.

In spite of the doctors all confirming that Saiful was never sodomised, the police still pursued the
case. Anwar Ibrahim was subsequently arrested by about 20 SWAT members in Balaclavas and armed to the teeth in a dramatic movie-style action-packed drama in front of his house after he had confirmed he would be reporting to the police station at 2.00pm as required.

The police detained Anwar in the lockup until the next morning and even brought him to the hospital for examination and to try to obtain his specimen for what the police say are for purposes of doing a DNA profile. The fact that the police already have Anwar’s DNA profile from 1998, plus the doctors from both hospitals confirm that Saiful was never sodomised, did not seem to matter.

Clearly the government is attempting to fabricate evidence against Anwar and is trying to indict him on trumped-up charges of sodomy. And who but the slime-ball AG and scumbag IGP, the same two players in the 1998 episode, can be behind this latest travesty of justice.

The doctor’s report says it very clearly. Saiful was never sodomised, either by Anwar or anyone else. Why is the government still pursuing the case against Anwar? And why are they looking for the doctor who has now gone underground with his whole family?

Civil society movements, NGOs and the Malaysian Bar Council must not remain silent. The police have already detained the doctor for three days but he still refuses to doctor his medical report. Anwar did not sodomise Saiful and the doctor’s report says it very clearly. And the police also have a copy of this same report that I have published below so they know what I know. And now Malaysians also already know what I and the police know -- that Saiful was never sodomised by anyone.

Syed Hamid nafi tuduhan liwat bermotif politik

- Bernama

Pusat perubatan swasta boleh dikenakan tindakan - Ismail Merican

KUALA LUMPUR 29 Julai - Kementerian Kesihatan akan menghubungi hospital swasta yang bertanggungjawab bagi mendapatkan maklumat lanjut bagaimana rekod perubatan bekas pembantu Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Mohd. Saiful Bukhari Azlan dihebahkan di laman web.

Ketua Pengarah Kesihatan, Tan Sri Dr. Mohd.

Malah, katanya, polis tidak menahan doktor terbabit atau memaksanya memalsukan bukti terhadap suspek seperti dilaporkan Malaysia Today bertajuk ‘Doctor on the run: Police want him to fabricate evidence against Anwar’.

Anwar slams cops for "overlooking" medical report

Anwar Ibrahim with his wife, Wan Azizah and lawyer,Sulaiman Shah during the press conference at his office today.

PETALING JAYA (July 29, 2008) : Pakatan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today slammed the police for overlooking the Hospital Pusrawi (Pusat Rawatan Islam) doctor's medical report on Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, a former aide who alleged that Anwar sodomised him.

"The allegations are clearly aimed at undermining the people's aspirations for transformational (political) change in Malaysia," said Anwar, adding the medical report which was allegedly leaked from the hospital and posted on the Internet on Monday had vindicated his persistent refusal to comply with demands from the authorities to submit his DNA sample.

Anwar Ibrahim with his wife, Wan Azizah and lawyer,
Sulaiman Shah during the press conference at
hhis office today.
"Although quite apparent, even before yesterday, their desperate attempt to collect a new DNA sample is clearly a last-ditch effort to build a case when there was none," said Anwar.

"This report makes a mockery of the so-called 'impartial police investigations' and clearly shows the dubious but persistent attempts to incriminate me by whatever means employable.

"How else can we fathom why the police, in the last four weeks of their 'thorough and professional examinations' overlooked such a critical piece of evidence?" asked Anwar, who called the investigations a "vile and filthy charade" and urged the police to put a stop to them.

Anwar spoke at a press conference at the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) headquarters in Tropicana in the presence of his wife, PKR president and Permatang Pauh MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, PKR vice-presidents Dr Syed Husin Ali and Mohamed Azmin Ali and his lawyers Sulaiman Abdullah, Sankara Nair and R. Sivarasa Rasiah.

He urged the government to make it a "national priority" to ensure the safety of Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid, who allegedly signed the medical report, and his family following the leak of the medical report.

Mohamed had allegedly conducted a medical examination on the request of Saiful who complained that he was sodomised with a plastic object by a "very important person".

"Reports that he (the doctor) and his family may be in danger must not be taken lightly, given instances of key witnesses in high profile cases in Malaysia having been threatened, coerced or gone missing," said Anwar who praised the courage of those responsible for leaking the report, and called for more to step up and contribute their evidence.

"I will no longer focus on the allegations against me. The nation is in a grave situation, and I can no longer be distracted by such nuisance," Anwar said.

"I am now determined to move ahead with the reform agenda which Malaysians endorsed in the last general election. I do not intend to address these scurrilous issues anymore," said Anwar, who called on the government to focus its attention on the needs of the Malaysian public.

"The authorities, aided by senior ministers in the government, appear to be wilfully dragging the nation's stature down in their last-ditch efforts to retain power."

" I call upon the government to rise above petty vindictiveness and manoeuvrings for power to be sincere, honest and hence effective in their actions.

"The national good demands nothing less," said Anwar, who expressed his readiness to face the might of Barisan Nasional in a planned by-election for the Kulim Bandar Baru seat.

Responding to questions from the press, Anwar expressed his support for Perak Mentri Besar Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin's rejection of a joint-government offer by former Perak mentri besar Datuk Tajol Rosli, who is Perak BN chief.

"The mentri besar has given his firm, categorical answer. He is committed to PR. Umno is desperate, with a sinking ship, they have no choice but to appeal and beg for support," said Anwar, who expressed his support for the discussions between political rivals PAS and Umno.

"I am very much in common with PAS president Ustaz Hadi Awang and the PAS leadership and also the DAP leadership.

"We have found that (PAS spiritual leader) Nik Aziz's statement on the issue is very firm and Ustaz Hadi had made it very firm to me that there was no question of leaving PR.

"In fact he has reiterated PAS's commitment to PR and that the collaboration of the five (PR) states will be enhanced," he said.

Meanwhile, Sulaiman said if the police investigations are carried out honestly, then this medical report should be welcomed by the authorities.

" It makes their ultimate decision that easier. An excellent basis for criminal action against the conspirators who have created this foul and monstrous accusation against Anwar ... the police reaction is very interesting."

"Interesting because the police have only talked about sabotage of police investigations but they have not claimed that the medical report was fabricated.

He said the usual operating procedure is that if there is even the slightest doubt, they will say that it's a fabrication.

"But the initial reaction has been a question of how we get this report and an accusation of sabotaging the investigation," said Sulaiman.

Deputy IGP defends police conduct in investigating sodomy case

KUALA LUMPUR (July 29, 2008) : Police today defended its conduct in investigating the sodomy allegation against Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim since the report was lodged by his former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, on June 28.

In the face of a leaked medical report, which claimed that the purported victim was not sodomised, and with Anwar delcaring that he had been vindicated, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar insisted that police conducted investigations professionally and expeditiously, "as it would not be in the public interest for the police to act otherwise".

"All kinds of allegations are floating around this case in the blogosphere. It would not be in the best interest of the police to respond to all these accusations as the case is still under investigation. The police shall not be influenced or intimidated by any party to avert investigation of this case."

His statement came four hours after Anwar slammed the police for overlooking a Hospital Pusrawi (Pusat Rawatan Islam) doctor's medical report on Mohd Saiful which allegedly said that there was no evidence that Saiful had been sodomised. The Health Ministry is investigating that report.

Mohd Saiful , 23, had on June 28 lodged a police report alleging the former sodomised him several times, including the last incident in a condominium in Damansara on June 26.

The statement also hit out at the article "Doctor on the run: Police want him to fabricate evidence against Anwar" that was published in the Malaysia Today news portal on July 28. Ismail said there was "no iota of truth" in the allegations made in the article.

"At no time during the course of this investigation did the police detain a doctor or force him to fabricate evidence against the suspect.

"The article is based on hearsay, is speculative and ascribes imputations which are totally unfair. The article is intended solely to skew public perceptions and undermine the police."

Ismail said after the probe is completed, police will present its case, with evidence, to the Attorney-General's Chambers for a decision.

Saying police have never dilly-dallied in investigating this case Ismail said police had on the contrary given the case priority as it was a high profile case.

"We want to solve this case as soon as possible. The investigating officer is constantly looking for new leads. We are doing our best and we need the cooperation of all quarters concerned," Bernama quoted him as saying in response to Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar's call to the police on Monday to speed up the investigations into the case.

Ismail lamented that some quarters have been making speculations and statements that could interfere with the investigations.

"I wish to warn everyone, including bloggers that action will be taken against those who deliberately try to interfere with the investigations. Let the police do a meticulous job," he told Bernama.

Meanwhile,Gerakan central committee member and former Penang Executive Councillor Datuk Dr Toh Kin Woonurged on the federal government to disclose findings of the medical examination on Saiful.

"The electronic media have divulged the contents of the first medical examination conducted on the person who alleged that he was sodomised by Anwar," Toh noted in a statement today.

"The report found no evidence of sodomy by Anwar. On the basis of this report, Anwar should therefore be exonerated of this charge of having committed sodomy," Toh said.

"The police have, however, till today still not revealed the contents of this first medical examination," he said, stressing however that the contents of the first medical examination must be as originally written by the doctor who conducted the investigation.

Toh also urged the mainstream media to get access to the report and give it prominent coverage.

"There is no reason for any more delay as justice delayed is justice denied," he added.
